Busy Signal tries to fill the gap - Artiste works on reggae album because young musicians neglect genre

In trying to save what many believe is a dying genre, dancehall artiste Busy Signal will be doing a full reggae album.
Speaking with the artiste's manager Shane Brown on Friday, he explained that Busy Signal was currently working on a one-drop reggae album that should be ready for release by the last quarter of this year.
"Busy has the talent to do different genres of music. A lot of people give up on reggae but we a raise the reggae flag. You can't go nowhere outside of Jamaica and don't hear reggae," he told noting that the album is being produced by himself, Donovan Germaine and Busy Signal.
"When people from overseas come to Jamaica and not hear reggae, it's like a culture shock. He has a lot of reggae fans so that's why he is so frequent in Europe and the Caribbean."
Brown said there is an even greater push to do a complete reggae album because there is a demand for it that is not being fulfilled locally.

not being fulfilled
"We are reggae fans and we see the impact it has on the audiences outside of Jamaica. People's appetites are not being fulfilled. Every time he (Busy Signal) does a reggae song, it is a hit outside of Jamaica. There is a great demand but nobody is doing it except the older artistes," he said, noting that last month Busy Signal released a one-drop song called Right Now.

Brown added that he believes the reggae album will be well-received by Busy Signal's fans.
"I think it's going to be pleasing to Busy's audience. We just love to try new things," he said.

In addition to the upcoming album, Busy Signal who is known for other reggae songs like One More Night and Night Shift, recently released Too Many Men and another song on Brown's Sweet Waterrhythm, which has other artistes like Romain Virgo, Beres Hammond and Queen Ifrica.
He will also be heading to Kenya today and will spend a month touring Europe in July. Having performed during Trinidad carnival and boasting a catalogue that has many soca songs, he will be doing other carnival events like Vincy Mas in St Vincent, Crop Over in Barbados, Caribana in Canada and Notting Hill Carnival in the United Kingdom.
