Media personality-turned artiste Amelia 'Milk' Sewell moves out of the Quad and on to Morgan's Harbour for her annual birthday party, 'Milky Way.'
Despite celebrating her birthday last Monday, Milk will be partying it up this Saturday with friends and fans at Morgan's Harbour Hotel. Now in its fifth year, according to Milk, her Milky Way party has outgrown its roots at the Quad in New Kingston. She told The STAR recently, "as you know, Milky Way normally keeps in the Quad, but I've outgrown it and graduated. Quad is my family and I have a lot of respect and love for them but I need a bigger venue this year. Milky Way has such a big following and Quad cyaan hold the amount of people. Last year, we had a long line of people partying outside of Quad because they couldn't get in."
Milk says she is happy to give her party a different look with a new venue. Having done themes like 'Crushed Ice and Whipped Cream', and 'Cherry Surprise', this year Milky Way is taking place under the theme 'Forbidden Fruit: the Garden of Eden.' Playing at the event is ZJ Wah Wa, Coppershot, Chromatic, 007 and Solar Dre.
According to Milk, as usual, there will be many surprises throughout the night including a surprise for herself. "Forever Sweet approached me and said they want to make a cake for me for free. They like the theme of the party and want to do something based on that. I haven't seen the cake, but I know its gonna be something fabulous and it'll be unveiled to me at the party," she explained.
Another surprise will be the 'forbidden fruit' which will be revealed to patrons at 2 a.m. She added, "if your aren't at the venue by 2 a.m. then you'll completely miss the surprise so be early." Having been a big part of Vybz Kartel's reality show Teacha's Pet where she played the role of the 'substitute teacha', the show's contestants, she said, will be at her party. "There's gonna be a lot of surprise guests including the teacha's pet girls. So if you follow the show, you can come out and meet them," Milk explained.
